Here are a few Dwarf models that I've been working on. They have been mailed and are in their new home in Idaho.
After I took the pictures I realized I forgot to paint the horns on the banner. That was taken care of right away but I didn't manage to get new photos taken.
Up next: More Space Wolves, and a bunch of Lord of the Rings figures... Gondor to be exact.
Hello,
ReplyDeleteI'm a real admirer of your work, both on canvas as well as on the warhammer models. I've been planning on painting a minotaur army for my space marines, and I was wondering if you could share your method (whether advanced or basic), to get a nice bronze finish, similar to your units above. I think they may be a bit more brass, but if you have a bronze example that'd be great. I think I've went through most of your postings on coolmini as well as your site today alone.
Fantastic works and I wish you all the best!
Clayton
Hi Clayton,
DeleteThank you!
As far as the bronze recipe goes, here's what I used:
Basecoat VMC Brassy Brass, Wash of Agrax Earthshade, Highlight VMC Brassy Brass, Highlight Dwarf Bronze (GW no longer makes this color, but VMC has a suitable replacement), highlight by adding Mithril Silver into the Dwarf Bronze, finishing with pure Mithril Silver on the edges.
When all that is done, I apply a thin glaze of Chestnut Ink (thinned with about 2 parts water). GW also no longer makes ink, but you can get a decent substitute by glazing with the new Fleshshade.
Hope this helps!
